2022 Season Rates and Booking Policy

We’re a STAYCATION retreat! Anyone wanting to reserve a Quarrybbean vacation needs to reserve a minimum of 30 nights. Got a big boat? We have deep-sea moorage and a long dock with room for guest tie-ups.

Our Quarrybbean retreat is a 2.5 acre property in a bare land strata with over 200 acres of backwoods’ common property, along with hiking trails and 2 lakes.  On Feb. 6th, 2021, our strata voted to ban Short Term Rentals (STRs). Not to worry, within 2 weeks of that, we had a serious boater/businessman book the Quarrybbean for the whole summer!!

All things are possible and most things are negotiable. Keep enquiring. Family and groups need to plan well in advance for an extended 4 week vacation. Don’t wait too long cause we only need 3 bookings, or someone bold enough to take it all!

Our new rates reflect longer stays but better per night pricing. Bookings allow for a maximum of 8 adults or parents with teenage kids. There can be exceptions with an upcharge. Families, couples and mature groups are encouraged.

Be sure to check out our latest improvements and additions at the end of the “Overview” section, under the title… “New for 2021/2022”.

This Magical Island Retreat could be exclusively yours. Book now to avoid disappointment!!

* ‘The Perch Studio’ is now included in our rental rates increasing accommodations to 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

* All bookings are to be made through VRBO - Vacation Rentals By Owner

** There can always be exceptions, so inquire. If you don’t ask, you won’t get.

  • There is still a High Season and a Low Season. If a booking spans both periods and/or more nights are desired, a pro-rated approach will apply.

  • Low Season: 30 night bookings = $21,000

  • This equals $700 per night or $87.50 per person per night based on an 8 person occupancy. Considering the previous STR pricing, this is practically 4 weeks for the price of 3.

  • High Season: 30 night bookings = $24,500

  • This equals $816 per night or $102 per person per night based on an 8 person occupancy. Considering the previous STR pricing, this is practically 4 weeks for the price of 3.

  • Bookings are to be made through VRBO - Vacation Rentals By Owner. There can always be exceptions, so if in doubt, enquire directly to

  • Custom packages can be arranged. If you don’t ask, you won’t get.

  • High Season: Friday, May 20th to Thursday, September 11th

  • Low Season: Friday, April 15th to Thursday, May 19th AND Monday, Sept. 12th to Sunday, October 16th

  • No Season: The facilities are winterized throughout November, December, January, and February. Exceptions can be made well in advance, but only on the cusp of winterization.

  • All rates are quoted in Canadian currency.  (For Americans, consider savings of 25% to 30% off because of the shifting exchange rate!)

  • Pet Fees: $150 per pet, per stay.

  • Cleaning Fees: $350 per stay (includes COVID sanitation).

  • There will be a fuel surcharge for propane usage. Propane costs have skyrocketed by 300% (as of Nov. 2021). Unnecessary propane usage has made this unavoidable.

  • All guests will be required to sign a Liability Waiver Release Form as a condition of their stay.

  • All guests will be required to read and confirm having read an O&O document entitled “Overview & Orientation”. This is a comprehensive document that you may request before making a booking. It describes in detail more about the facilities and surrounding property and terrain. Also, the inherent risks and rewards of utilizing the property, common property, Crown Land and equipment provided.

Check Out/Arrival Times; and Damage Deposits:

  • Check in/out times are flexible

  • Arrival at the Quarrybbean, no sooner than noon. Rooms available by 3pm or earlier.  (This will depend upon whether it’s a same day turn-over or not.)

  • Departures no later than 1pm and rooms vacated by 10am. If no one is arriving on your departure day, you can stay a little longer but not for dinner

  • Damage deposit is a minimum $2,500 but the new VRBO policy does not require that your credit card be debited in advance of your stay

  • Because of our remoteness, breaking a large appliance, elevator damage, damaged railings, plumbing, etc. can cost significantly more than repairs on the mainland. Repairmen’s travel time, transportation costs, availability, weather considerations and short notice for service, can be problematic and costly. Unrepaired damage might trigger a cancellation or unnecessary discounts for the next group, which you will be liable for. Be considerate, respectful and careful.

How To Get Here…

By Car: From Vancouver, cross the Lion’s Gate Bridge to the North Shore and go up Taylor Way, then west on the Upper Levels Highway (that eventually becomes the Sea to Sky highway). After about 12 minutes or so, signs will guide you to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. Take the Langdale ferry to Langdale on the Sunshine Coast. From there you will drive along the Sunshine Coast Highway to Madeira Park. Awhile after leaving Sechelt, you will pass two lakes on your drive to Madeira. First one will be on your right and the second one on your left. Immediately after the second lake, take the next turn off on your left, into Madeira Park. At the bottom of the hill there are several stores. Oak Tree Market has a great butcher and meats. There’s a liquor store, a Pharmacy and an IGA super market. There’s a school and soccer pitch. After the soccer pitch, veer right and within 150 feet is the Madeira Park public docks, where you can catch your water transportation (by prior arrangement).

From downtown Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay should take you roughly 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and bridge conditions. The ferry ride is about 35 minutes, plus loading and off-loading times. And the drive from Langdale, along the Sunshine Coast Highway to Madeira Park, should take approximately 60 to 70 minutes without any stops. Check the ferry schedule for departure times. To avoid disappointment and several sailing waits, we advise reservations. Go to:

By Float Plane: If flying out of YVR’s South Terminal river location on a ‘charter’, it should only take about 45 plus minutes to our dock. You can also charter directly from Victoria harbour and Naniamo, or where ever you want your group picked up.

There are scheduled flights from YVR South Terminal and downtown Vancouver, that’ll take you to Sechelt. Some will take you to Madeira Park, in Pender Harbour. And some apparently come from Seattle to Madeira Park.

By Boat: Check your marine charts. Email Alistair so he can best advise you if you wish to bring a boat from Vancouver, Vancouver Island or Gulf Islands, or anywhere else.

Water Taxi or Private Boat Charters:  Unless you have your own boat, or come via floatplane, you will need to arrange water transportation from Madeira Park (or elsewhere), to get out to Quarry Bay, Nelson Island. We can suggest some boat charters.  2021 rates were approx. $200 each way.
